Journey to a part of Ireland with landscapes little changed in centuries featuring over 1000 miles of stone walls, along with stone churches and cottages.
Your adventure takes you from your hotel to Connemara Airport in Galway where you catch a short, 12-minute flight to Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands and home of the original Aran Sweater market.
A picturesque mosaic of stone walls and cottages, the landscape of Inis Mór is little changed from centuries past. The stone fort of Dun Aengus, perched directly on the cliffs facing to the sea offers some of the most impressive coastal views in Ireland, and in the mythology, is the last refuge of the Fir Bolg tribe.
Inis Mór also delivers a rich Christian history from as far back as 490 when St. Enda founded the first monastery on the island. Early Christian sites include Na Seacht dTeampaill, the ruins of Teampall an Ceathrar Álainn, and Teampall Chiaráin, dedicated to the founder of Clonmcnoise, St. Ciaran and dating to the 12th century.
